69: Sarah Desmarais (Fucko) - It's Never too Late to Start a Band
WELCOME BACK TO THE EDUPUNX PODCAST
Sarah Desmarais is the guitarist and vocalist for the Massachusetts-based band, Fucko. Sarah also works in marketing for America’s Test Kitchen - which is something I learned early in the conversation and it wound up steering the beginning of the episode. Sarah and i discuss what it’s like picking up an instrument (guitar) a little later than folks typically pick it up and start noodling around. Having also delayed my guitar learning til my 20s, I could relate to Sarah a good deal - especially around starting a band a tad later as well.
Hope you enjoy this first episode back in over 6 weeks, but we will be back consistently every other week from here on out! Enjoy!
MUSIC NOTE:
- This week you got to hear tunes from the new Fucko album, “Social Climber,” which was released this month on Midnight Werewolf records.
- Fucko presents a fuzzy/noisy indie pop sound that bridges the gaps between garage rock and pop - it’s a wonderful spin of the genre.
- On this episode, you got to hear the tracks, “Used to Be” and “In That Doorway.” You can check out the album through Fucko’s Bandcamp page, and through all of the streaming platforms!
